Your Time in Ladakh

If you're travelling to the conference, this page will help you plan the journey and your time there.

Accommodation and food

The venue of the conference is in Choglamsar, which is a settlement about 4kms from the main Leh town. We recommend staying in Leh and commuting to Choglamsar both days via public bus, individual or shared taxis.

There are now over a thousand guesthouses and hotels, and though we have not evaluated all of them, we have come up with a small list of guesthouses and food providers that we recommend.

In recent years, the presence of thousands of tourists in Ladakh has put a huge strain on the region’s scarce resources. However, there are many ways in which the negative impacts of tourism can be reduced and positive impacts can be encouraged through a mindful tourism approach.

First Time in Ladakh?

First-time travellers to Ladakh should allow themselves at least two days of rest upon arrival, for the purpose of acclimatising to the altitude. We recommend spending this quiet time in Leh, Shey or Saboo.
